A former lawmaker who faces a murder charge in the death of his ex-girlfriend has now been sued by the woman’s family.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the family of Amanda Ross filed the wrongful death lawsuit in Fayette County Circuit Court against former state Rep. Steve Nunn.
Ross, a state insurance department employee, was shot to death Sept. 11 outside her Lexington home. The lawsuit accuses Nunn of stalking and threatening her for months before.
Nunn has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center. His case is to be considered by a county grand jury.
Nunn’s attorney, Astrida L. Lemkins, said she wasn’t aware of the lawsuit and couldn’t comment on it.
Nunn’s father was former Gov. Louie B. Nunn, who died in 2004.
