A lack of proper insurance proof may force Metcalfe, Mississippi to cut ties with its long-time trash collection provider.
Griffin Waste Services has serviced the town since 1998, but Mayor Corey Holmes says during that time period, Curtis Griffin Jr. of Griffin Waste Services, has not produced proper state liability insurance to work and operate in a municipality.
Holmes told the Democrat Times that under state law those providing services must have liability insurance on themselves, their workers and vehicles.
Holmes says there is supposed to be trash picked up every Friday, but either Griffin has been late or doesn’t show up.
The mayor says he has proposed that the city go with another contractor.
