Alabama Braces for Possible Tornadoes

Forecasters say a pair of storm systems will bring the threat of isolated tornadoes to parts of Alabama.

The National Weather Service expects severe weather to move into the state late Thursday into early Friday, with isolated tornadoes possible. However, forecasters say the larger threat will be straight-line winds.

The weather service said the the northwest part of the state faces the biggest threat of sever weather from that system, mainly along and just south of the Interstate 22 corridor.

A second storm system is expected to develop late Sunday afternoon, again bringing the threat of isolated tornadoes and damaging straight-line winds through Monday morning. Forecasters say that system could bring severe weather to an area generally along U.S. 80 and the Interstate 85 corridor but could also develop further north.
