BusinessFirst Insurance Co., a monoline workers’ compensation company, is now offering coverage to employers in Georgia.
BusinessFirst and affiliate RetailFirst Insurance Co. comprise the RetailFirst Insurance Group. During 2013, the companies reported more than $108 million in combined direct written premium, and as of September 30, 2014, the group insured more than 14,000 businesses and had more than $307 million in total admitted assets and almost $149 million of policyholder surplus.
The group is rated B++ (Good) by A.M. Best Co. and said it has excess of loss reinsurance coverage provided by A+ rated Safety National Casualty Corp.
Day-to-day operations of the group are managed by Summit Consulting LLC, a managing general agent with experience in workers’ compensation.
In addition to Georgia, BusinessFirst is available to employers in Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
