Authorities say a tornado touched down in an area of north Florida where dozens of homes were damaged by wind and failing trees.
The Ocala Star Banner reported that no one was injured but at least a half dozen homes suffered heavy damage when the line of thunderstorms passed through the area on Monday afternoon.
Marion County officials on Tuesday said the storm was an EF1 tornado. This type of tornado typically has wind gusts between 86 and 109 miles per hour.
Marion County Fire Rescue spokesman James Lucas said multiple trees fell on houses. The damaged homes were in the Palm Cay and Oak Run neighborhoods.
