Police in Asheville, N.C., say a man involved in more than a dozen wrecks in three years is accused of deliberately causing the accidents and trying to collect insurance later.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office say 26-year-old Byron Benson Fulghum Jr. is charged with six counts of felony insurance fraud.
Court records say Fulghum also is charged two counts each of assault with a deadly weapon, injury to personal property and reckless driving in connection with wrecks earlier this year.
An investigation by Asheville police shows Fulghum has been involved in 14 wrecks in the county since 2012, as well as other wrecks in Henderson and Haywood counties.
Fulghum is free on a $10,000 secured bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
