The University of North Carolina has reached a settlement after a college football player said he suffered a concussion during an off-campus hazing incident.
Citing a copy of the settlement it obtained June 21, the News & Observer of Raleigh reports that former UNC walk-on wide receiver Jackson Boyer and his family will receive $795,000 from the university to cover all personal injury claims, including attorneys’ fees.
On Aug. 4, 2014, Boyer was involved in an altercation with at least four of his teammates at a hotel where the football team was staying during its preseason camp. The details of the altercation are unclear and no criminal charges were ever filed.
Boyer has since transferred to the University of Southern California, where he is now a junior walk-on receiver.
