A man in Kiln, Miss., is accused of possessing a golf cart stolen from a state park there, and Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam says police in at least two neighboring counties also report recent golf cart thefts.
Adam tells the Sea Coast Echo that 33-year-old Dameon Cuevas was arrested July 28 on charges of receiving stolen property and violating probation.
An online roster showed him in jail July 31. It did not indicate whether he has an attorney who could comment.
Adam says the golf cart was one of two stolen July 26 from McLeod State Park, and the second remains missing.
The sheriff says Pearl River and Harrison counties also report recent golf cart thefts.
He says the carts are “soft targets” because they’re easily transported and sell for about $5,000.
