Authorities say nine people were taken to a hospital after a tractor-trailer smashed into cars stopped at a red-light on a Georgia parkway.
Gainesville police Cpl. Jessica Van told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the big truck failed to stop, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving at least 10 vehicles Monday morning.
News outlets reported that police said nine people were sent to the hospital – including at least one person with serious injuries. The Queen City Parkway was closed for hours after the crash, which occurred as metro Atlanta was under a dense fog advisory.
Gloria Kell told The Gainesville Times she was approaching a red light when her car got struck. She said in her rearview mirror she saw a “tractor-trailer going all over the place, running over cars and stuff.”
