Brown & Brown Insurance, an insurance brokerage firm, has completed its acquisition of Orchid Underwriters Agency, based in Vero Beach, Florida, and CrossCover Insurance Services in Houston.
Established in 1998, Orchid has specialized in homeowners insurance in coastal zones and for high net worth customers. Orchid joined with Scott Hanson to establish CrossCover, which provides excess and surplus commercial property insurance, according to a news release.
Orchid said it will continue to operate under the leadership of Steve Carlsen, Kathy Cody and Ross Bowie from offices in Vero Beach and Tampa. CrossCover will continue to operate under Hanson from offices in Cypress, Texas. Orchid and CrossCover will report to Chris Walker, president of national programs.
