Mathis, Tibbets & Mathis, a 36-year-old independent broker of commercial and personal property/casualty insurance, surety bonds and employee benefits plans, based in Memphis, has been acquired by Higginbotham.
Higginbotham, which said it ranks as one of the 20th largest independent brokerage firms in the country, entered the Tennessee market in 2020. The addition of Mathis gives it a sixth location in the state, the company said in a news release.
Mathis principals Gene Mathis and Alex Mathis said that joining Higginbotham provides access to additional insurers and in-house risk management and employee benefits services.
