The Latin American Association of Insurance Agents has teamed up with the University of South Florida to expand awareness of insurance industry trends, best practices and emerging technology, for students as well as professionals.
LAAIA said in a news release that the organization will offer a one-year membership to all USF undergraduate students who are pursuing majors or minors in risk management and insurance, along with free access to the group’s annual trade show.
Randy Dumm, director of the Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance at USF, also will serve on LAAIA’s strategic partnerships committee.
“This represents an exciting opportunity for our students, as well as an important collaboration in sharing the latest developments in the field with insurance professionals,” said GJ de Vreede, interim dean of the USF College of Business.
In 2022, Tampa-based Baldwin Risk Partners Group, a large insurance brokerage and holding company, along with the family behind the group, donated $5 million to USF to support the growth of the risk management and insurance program there. The donation was designed to help fill the talent gap the insurance industry has been facing in recent years.
