The Cleveland Clinic, a health care system with hospitals and clinics around the world, said it plans to build a 150-bed hospital in the Palm Beach area and will quadruple the size of an outpatient clinic there.
Cleveland has operated an outpatient clinic at City Place in West Palm Beach for some 15 years, but the growing needs of the community call for a new hospital with ambulatory surgery center, the company said in a news release Thursday. Cleveland is now in the process of purchasing land for the hospital.
Nearby, the clinic will lease more space at 15 City Place for a larger outpatient center that will provide chemotherapy, endoscopy, outpatient surgery and other services. The Cleveland Clinic operates more than 40 health centers around Florida, including the 258-bed hospital in Weston, Florida, near Fort Lauderdale.
The expansion is likely to present new opportunities and issues for property-casualty insurers and brokers, including workers’ compensation coverage and rate reimbursement questions, as well as property insurance and medical malpractice coverage.
