People: Hotaling’s Dieppa Appointed to Florida Citizens Board of Governors

The managing partner at Hotaling Insurance Services has been named to the Florida Citizens Property Insurance Corp. Board of Governors for a three-year term.

Gabriel “Gabby” Dieppa, based in Miami, was appointed by Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez this summer, before Perez stepped down to become U.S. ambassador to Brazil. Dieppa’s term on the Citizens board ends in July 2029. He replaces board member LeAnna Cumber, a former Jacksonville City Council member who was appointed to the Citizens board in 2023 by the previous House speaker, Paul Renner.

Dieppa has extensive experience in the Florida insurance business. Since 2018, he has been managing partner at Hotaling, a brokerage and risk management firm with offices across the country. Before that, Dieppa was a vice president at the Brown & Brown insurance brokerage for almost four years.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami and a bachelor’s in human resource development from the University of Florida, according to a news release from Hotaling.

Dieppa will join his first board meeting Wednesday, but he declined to talk about an item on the agenda—a planned but much-debated clearinghouse to help move commercial policies out of Citizens.

“As a new member of the Citizens Board, I don’t believe it would be appropriate for me to take a position on a commercial clearinghouse before fully reviewing the facts and hearing from the relevant stakeholders,” Dieppa said in a statement. “My experience as a commercial insurance broker will certainly inform my perspective, but I want to understand the data, the intended objectives and the potential implications before reaching any conclusions.”
