When the Insuring the Children Board of Directors met in January, the updated grants report indicated a total of $55,000 distributed in the latter half of 2002. The Orange County Prevent Child Abuse organization was granted $10,000; The OC Child Abuse Prevention Agency received $30,000 and $15,000 was awarded to the YMCA Community Services’ ARK Program.
Insuring the Children holds two major fundraising events each year–the Industry Forum and a Golf Tournament. Most recently the Annual Golf Tournament raised over $70,000 from almost 100 golfers. Over 95 percent of the proceeds collected from these events go directly into the fund of this organization.
Insuring the Children is a non-profit organization created by insurance industry leaders with the goal of supporting child abuse prevention programs and raising awareness of child abuse and neglect. Since its inception in 1994, ITC has raised almost $1,000,000 to assist child abuse prevention centers. There are chapters throughout California in Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and in the Midwest.
