The California Insurance Wholesalers Association has announced a new venue for its Annual Meeting on June 17-18 in San Francisco at the Pan Pacific Hotel.
The Annual Meeting will begin with CIWA’s board of directors’ meeting on June 17 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. that evening.
Attendees can also participate in an exclusive continuing education presentation on the SL2 Form, taught by Christy Weiler Dean, Esq., from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on June 18.
The CE course, titled “SL-2 Form: How to Conduct and Document Diligent Searches,” describes the legal and practical requirements of one of the fundamental obligations of California licensed surplus line brokers. Such licensees are statutorily required to conduct, supervise, or ensure many such diligent searches each day (Insurance Code ยง 1763), and it is imperative that they remain informed of the current legal standards associated with such searches, who is entitled to conduct the searches, and proper documentation of such searches to be filed with The Surplus Line Association of California. This topic affects nearly every surplus line policy and every line of coverage placed by any California surplus line broker (other than export list coverages).” A panel discussion will follow the presentation.
The Annual Meeting and the election of new officers will take place from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. on June 18.
