John F. Schapperle was named president of Honolulu-based Island Insurance Co., the largest locally-owned insurance provider.
Schapperle, currently the company’s executive vice president, will succeed Linda Gilchrist who will retire at the end of the year.
Gilchrist will continue to serve as a director on the company’s board.
