Heffernan Insurance Brokers, one of the largest full service insurance brokerage firms in the Bay Area, announced the promotion of Steve Williams to president of Financial Services. The Heffernan Financial Services Department provides employee benefits including group medical, life and disability products and services to a wide range of commercial clients in the Bay Area and nationwide.
With this new responsibility, Williams will be working in the Walnut Creek office with the Financial Services team, as well as in the San Francisco office where he will continue his role as branch manager there. Williams also manages several specialty insurance programs for Heffernan, including the Contractors Program, the Four Star Culinary Program and several agency owned rent-a-captives.

Williams merged his family’s insurance agency with the Heffernan Group in 1997. Williams’ great grandfather founded the Peter E. Williams Insurance Agency in 1886 in San Francisco. Before joining the family business, Williams worked for one of California’s largest brokerage firms in San Diego.
