Standard Insurance Co., a subsidiary of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc., has promoted David O’Brien to senior vice president of information technology and William W. Pfeiffer to senior vice president of human resources.
O’Brien joined the company in 2004 as vice president of IT. He is responsible for developing and leading the company’s information technology strategy and execution. He oversees enterprise architecture, business systems development, hardware and software management, electronic customer interfaces and information processing. Prior to joining The Standard, he served as chief information officer for FEI Co.
Pfeiffer, who joined the company full time in April 2006, is responsible for directing the company’s human resource strategies and programs. He started working with The Standard as a consultant in May 2001, supporting strategic planning, leadership curricula and organizational development.
Prior to joining The Standard, Pfeiffer was an associate professor of management in the School of Business Administration at Portland State University and owner of Pfeiffer and Associates, a management consulting business.
