Los Angeles-based Mercury Insurance has committed to become a Premier Sponsor of Big Sunday ’07, dubbed the largest community service event in America.
Big Sunday ’07 will be staged April 28 and 29, 2007, throughout California’s Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura Counties. On those days, organizers expect to approximately 50,000 volunteers of to participate in more than 350 community projects. Volunteers will rehabilitate and landscape schools, cook and serve meals in homeless shelters, landscape youth centers in East Los Angeles, sing to lonely seniors in Beverly Hills, clean up trash along Southern California rivers and beaches, knit clothing for premature babies, and assemble packages for our troops, among the many projects that will be tackled over the weekend-long civic event.
Mercury has donated $25,000 to support the event and many of Mercury’s 3,000 Southern California employees have signed up to volunteer for a variety of projects throughout the Southland.
