The commissioner is an idiot, of course. But so are a lot of the legislators in office. So if there is a snow ball chance in hell, it just might happen here..
I love the libs and their great ideas for change,,except they want ME to pay for their great ideas.. Reminds me of Obama and Clinton and the rest of the national lib slugs!
Our commissioner is just one more slug.

Countless “blue-ribbon” studies and their useless self-serving schemes, spanning decades, have all failed miserably to produce their promises. If in doubt, check the un-insured statistics, which seem to be deteriorating much further and more rapidly. Consequently, why not try something that might actually work in delivering health care and protection at an affordable price tag? Catastrophic Care concept has some interesting features that may generate public support and participation. In contrast, the public is clamoring for “CHANGE” with the current faltering arrangements.

The public isnt clamoring for change. Politicians in an elections year, absent any real problems, are conjuring red herring ideas in an effort to get noticed. 85% of Americans have health insurance. Of the remaining 15%, have could get catastrophic coverage for under $100 a month (very affordable can’t we all agree?). The rest are most likely covered by medicaid or medicare. Sorry, no health care crisis that I can see.
For laughs, check Mike Kreidlers Biography. You guessed it – before the socialist democratic party in Washington got him elected Kommissar, he had no background in insurance. Welcome to our industry, people. Why, what we do is so unimportant that folks who don’t even really care about insurance become commissioner.

I can’t say the current system works all that well … but I don’t know THE answer either.

I’m a believer in capitalism – let the market do its job. But we haven’t let capitalism work in health care. I also see that nations with socialized medicine have pretty dang good systems overall that people are generally happy with. But we haven’t let socialized medicine work here either. We’ve got this bastardized system that seems to take the worst of both worlds and mash them together.

I’d love to see if capitalism could bring the cost of healthcare down. I think this idea in WA is just another bit of meddling that won’t have its intended effect.
