AIG Private Client Group Expands Wildfire Protection Services

AIG Private Client Group, a division of the personal lines property and casualty insurance subsidiaries of American International Group Inc., announced that its Wildfire Protection Unit service has doubled the number of trucks in its fleet and expanded its reach to other communities within California and Colorado, as a result of policyholder demand.

The Wildfire Protection Unit, a mobile wildfire mitigation service, was created by AIG Private Client Group in 2005 as a proactive means to bolster the protection of policyholders’ homes throughout wildfire season. The complimentary service is available exclusively to AIG Private Client Group policyholders who reside within designated response areas.

Through an exclusive partnership with Firebreak Spray Systems LLC, which specializes in wildfire mitigation, the Wildfire Protection Unit reviews safety measures with policyholders and utilizes Phos-Chek, the fire retardant used by the U.S. Forest Service.

“Every homeowner should be adequately insured so, if disaster strikes, the cost to completely rebuild is covered,” said Charles Williamson, president, AIG Private Client Group.

The range of Wildfire Protection Unit services includes:
* On-site consultation – Firebreak’s wildfire protection specialists visit the policyholder’s property in advance of wildfire season to assess its vulnerability.

* Pre-treatment – If there is brush exposure, Phos-Chek is applied around the perimeter of the property. The retardant creates a “barrier” to shield the home.

* Emergency response – A fleet of trucks equipped with Phos-Chek is on standby for policyholders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If a wildfire poses an immediate threat, the Firebreak teams are dispatched automatically to area homes. Access permitting, Phos-Chek will be applied to all combustible areas on the properties at risk.

Currently the Wildfire Protection Unit serves AIG Private Client Group policyholders who reside in the following areas and enroll to participate:

* Colorado: Aspen, Avon, Basalt, Breckenridge, Carbondale, Edwards, Glenwood Springs, Minturn, Snowmass, Snowmass Village, Vail, Wolcott and Woody Creek.

* Northern California – East Bay: Alamo, Berkeley, Danville, Diablo, Lafayette, Moraga, Oakland, Orinda, Piedmont, San Ramon and Walnut Creek.

* Northern California – North Bay: Belvedere, Calistoga, Corte Madera, Fairfax, Glen Ellen, Kentfield, Larkspur, Mill Valley, Napa, Novato, Ross, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Sausalito, Sonoma, St. Helena and Tiburon.

* Northern California – South Bay: Atherton, Burlingame, Carmel, Cupertino, Hillsborough, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Menlo Park, Monte Sereno, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, San Mateo, Saratoga and Woodside.
