Pacific Gateway Insurance Agency (PGIA), a wholly owned managing general agent/managing general underwriter of National Indemnity Insurance Co. (NICO), a member of the Berkshire Hathaway Group of Insurance Companies, has acquired the California property/casualty division of the Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC). PGIA plans to increase it’s presence in the California insurance market with the addition of five new field underwriters and a marketing manager. With the acquisition, PGIA will continue to provide service for commercial auto, garage, general liability, property and package needs.
PGIA focuses mainly on commercial auto and garage coverage in California, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon. The company can handle primary auto and garage on a brokerage basis in all states except Massachusetts and Hawaii.
