$1,000,000 + stolen, unpaid claims – who knows, 7 years of “due process” and these bimbo’s get 90 days and have to return what they couldn’t spend. Ouch! Since they weren’t actually selling insurance, how dare the State take their license.

Not much of a sentence for 6 felony counts. If this had been 6 counts of attempted armed robbery there would have been some big time prison time. She put these agents’ businesses and assets at risk. I’m a P and C guy and an insurance agency without E and O coverage is worth a heck of a lot less than one that has coverage. If these agents can get coverage in place what are the chances of the e and o carrier agreeing to use a retro date other than the inception date of the policy when there was a period of no coverage? I’m assuming the repacement E and O will be on a claims-made form.

I’m tired of light or virtually no sentences for “white collar” criminals. More insurance brokers, Wall Street brokers, mortgage brokers, bankers, politicians, bureaucrats, corporate executives, etc. need to be paraded around in handcuffs in front of the media before they go off to the penitentiary to serve a sentence that truly fits their crimes. Otherwise, there is no real deterrent, other than one’s own conscience, to doing evil. And why would it take 7 years to sentence two women for insurance fraud? It must have cost the taxpayer a fortune. Something is terribly wrong with our system when so much money and time is spent for so little resulting justice.

The criminal statute is Penal Code Section 550 not Insurance Code.
