Let me guess — it’s a part of the bailout plan?!

    Yay for Stimulus!

    Fails on all counts.

    – Insurance Companies AND Auto Companies dare not lose a penny. This means, obviously the full premium is included in your price of the car.

    – As for putting more insured drivers on the road – its not people who purchase new cars that drive around uninsured, so this isnt going to change much.

Just a gimmick that customers who dont know any better will fall for. Sad.

Isn’t free insurance illegal in most states? Also, who will be the Agent? The F & I person at the car dealer? I can see many various future lawsuits with this situation!! Wait and see!!

Isn’t rebating still illegal? Can an agent give you a year of free car insurance for buying a whole life insurance policy without the State taking their license? I’ve also wondered how many Government fleet vehicles are required to be GM? Is that why the Cruze is the highest selling car in America? Coincidence or Collusion?

    So many naysayers…

In many countries insurance comes with the car. Personally I see things going this way. Buy a car and it comes with insurance, lifetime service, lifetime warranty, etc. Hassle-free ownership.

Hyundai will even pick your car up at your house to service it for one of their models.

Boy GM is pulling out all the stops. As if all the bailout money wasn’t enough, now they’re trying to peddle their inferior, hideous vehicles using free insurance.

I have an idea. Try producing vehicles that people actually want to buy/own. What a novel concept! With the exception of Cadillac, GM has NOTHING going for it.

And the Volt…HA! Buy two, then push them into a ditch along with the Prius.

As you can clearly tell, I have no love or respect for GM. Buy Ford if you want american. At least they were capable of surviving without government handouts. By the way, I have a friend who works for GM corporate and i’m told nothing has changed on the inside.

Ford actually got a $5,900,000,000 loan as well.

And nothing changed inside GM because they are still Union-Run. I am never buying an American car again because of that fact…

anything “included” is usually pretty crappy to begin with, car dealers selling insurance is asking for trouble, I know insurance as just a comodity, get the cheepest POS coverage you can right? Until you dont have coverage, then maybe it might have been worth a proffessional looking at it. As for Met this makes me want to take their plaque off my wall and send it back to them, they are clearly not commited to their IA’s

Nationwide did the same thing a few years back with VW.

As I understand it, the limits are actually decent and can be greatly improved at little cost. They also include gap as well.

Not too shabby really. I’m wondering how they can turn an underwriting profit from this since they will literally perform NO front line underwriting on the policies in question. A 16 year old with a terrible driving record in a Corvette Z06 is the same premium as a 55 year old millionaire with an IBS of 820 and no tickets or accidents.

    Really now…
And everybody gets the same limits I suppose, same deductibles?
Would you like Med pay or not?
Your umbrella carrier isn’t going to be happy and then if you have a cross sell on your homeowners policy – up go the rates!
But fear not, a used car salesman is there to look after your insurance needs and best interests.
    Don’t worry this will fail!

And they bypass the Independent Agent by having their direct call center handle these clients. And if they are current MetLife customers, is that agent at risk of losing the other autos in the house and home policy to the call center?
