Encino, Calif.-based lawfirm Michelman & Robinson LLP has added Robert Barbarowicz as of counsel in their regulatory and administrative group.
Barbarowicz has more than three decades of experience in insurance regulatory matters. Barbarowicz has developed expertise related to the acquisition of insurance companies, inter-company matters, resolution of statutory accounting matters and issues with financial affairs and financial analysis issues, resolution of market conduct and consumer affairs issues, and obtaining approvals to significant rate applications. He has also worked in insurance insolvency matters, including work in the rehabilitation and liquidation of Executive Life Insurance and Mission Insurance Cos.
In 2010, he was named a member of the advisory team to the superintendent of New York on modernization of insurance filings in the State.
Prior to joining Michelman & Robinson, Barbarowicz was a business executive and chief insurance regulation executive for Balboa Insurance Group for over 11 years. He was also a member of the laws and government affairs committees of the Property Casualty Insurers Association.
