A federal sex-discrimination suit has been settled between the Arizona Department of Corrections and the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Arizona Republic reported the department has one month to put in place new polices and three months to launch training to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
It also must pay $182,500 to a former corrections officer who worked in the Tucson prison from 2004 to 2008 and alleged that several male supervisors and co-workers at the prison harassed her for more than three years.
Susan Peterson complained to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2009 she was repeatedly grabbed and touched.
Peterson complained repeatedly to Corrections Department managers, but the department did not investigate or take any action to stop the harassment.
