The DOI has appear to be ineffective or useless. Their dedication to protect and serve the public is questionable as demonstrated in one case when they had documented evidence of insurance violations by an insurance carrier. Others have expressed similar opinions.

I agree. I’ve had coworkers, family and friends who’ve filed appeals with the Dept. of Insurance only to be told many months later there was nothing the DOI could do, even though the various insurance companies like Blue Shield, Blue Cross and Kaiser all lied to their patients, belatedly changed doctors’ codings from preventive care to diagnostic, and/or tacked on enormous hospital costs years AFTER a procedure despite initially promising there would be no or minimal costs! The DOI is toothless, useless and seems to be another cruel tool of the insurance profit-mongers.
