Two Maricopa County, Ariz. residents have filed a lawsuit against a California company over a salmonella outbreak linked to tainted cucumbers.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports there have been 341 reported cases of salmonella involving the garden-variety cucumbers since July 3 in 30 states with Arizona reporting 66 cases.
Health officials in several states have found strains of salmonella in cucumbers grown in Mexico and distributed by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce of San Diego.
A suit filed Wednesday by a Phoenix law firm in U.S. District Court seeks a jury trial for a Maricopa County man and an unidentified male who both needed medical treatment after allegedly eating the tainted cucumbers in early August.
The suit alleges negligence by the produce company and seeks unspecified damages.
