Police in Utah say the holiday weekend’s icy roads caused several crashes along the Wasatch Front.
The weekend tally of more than 200 accidents included a Saturday crash that damaged a Utah Highway Patrol vehicle.
Trooper Andrew Battenfield says Interstate 15 was like a sheet of ice when he stopped to help several drivers who lost control of their vehicles Saturday morning.
He says an SUV slid across the freeway, bringing two more cars with it, and crashed into the back of his patrol car while he was standing about 20 feet away. The drifting vehicles also hit a fire engine.
Officials say no one was injured in those crashes, although there were several fatalities on the Wasatch Front over the weekend.
