San Diego, Calif.-based Barney & Barney has named Hal Dunning, the firm’s chief operating officer, to the additional role of president.
This is a new position at the firm, and the move is effective immediately.
In his new combined role, Dunning has operations oversight responsibility for the firm’s offices in San Diego, Orange County, San Francisco, Walnut Creek and Anchorage, Alaska.
Dunning was named COO of Barney & Barney in 2006 and previously served as chief financial officer.
He has 35 years of business and leadership experience. Prior to joining Barney & Barney in 2001, Dunning was the Western region general manager and controller of ADS Environmental Systems. Earlier in his career, he worked for Anthony Industries Inc. (now K2 Inc.) and the accounting firm Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young).
Barney & Barney comprises the Western regional operations of Marsh & McLennan Agency, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh serving the risk management and insurance needs of middle market companies in the United States.
