Authorities say a construction worker has been crushed to death at a landfill in Southern California.
Capt. Daryll Milliot with the Orange County Fire Authority says the man in his mid-to-late 30s was killed at Prima Deshecha landfill in San Juan Capistrano Friday at about 3 p.m.
The worker was in between the frame of a dump truck-style trailer and a lifted bed at the time of the incident.
According to Milliot, the man may have been trying to manually lower the bed portion of the trailer when it came down, crushing him. A wrench and hydraulic fluid were found nearby.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not immediately clear which company he works for.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating.
