A bill is obviously necessary. People continue to text and drive. I was on the road yesterday and was pushed onto the shoulder of the road two times by a pick up truck towing a landscaping trailer. I sped up to pass the maniac and there he was, looking at his smartphone, texting and driving. We need a punishment to fit this dangerous behavior.

It happens almost daily now. People are stupefied by their phones.

Perplexed, you may remember the young man who killed 13 seniors riding on a bus when they were struck by a the man who was texting while driving. Of course, he was also high on drugs. He survived, but they didn’t. Drugs, plus texting is about as dangerous as a driver can be.

Correct me if I am wrong, but vehicular manslaughter is a felony in most states and requires gross negligence. I am pretty sure if someone kills someone because they are texting you would have a lot of DAs that would push for felony vehicular manslaughter. Just saying.
