A Snohomish, Washington roofing company faces more than $400,000 in fines for reportedly disregarding safety rules it has violated 60 times over the past four years.
The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries opened an inspection of Allways Roofing in April after a referral to L&I reported roofers working on a two-story home without connected safety harnesses or eye protection in the Mount Vernon neighborhood.
Inspectors reportedly photographed two workers, including the job-site lead, wearing safety harnesses that were not hooked to an anchor point to prevent them from falling off the roof. Allways Roofing has had at least seven serious injuries, including five falls from heights and two eye injuries from nail guns, according to L&I.
Allways Roofing has dozens of violations going back more than 10 years. Total fines against the company amount to more than $3.7 million since 2019. So far, the company has paid L&I just under $250,000, according to L&I.
The company also owes $22,426.39 in past due workers’ compensation premiums. Its contractor registration is suspended until those premiums are paid.
The latest inspection resulted in $433,718.00 in fines including four egregious, willful, repeat violations of fall protection rules, the most severe penalty imposed by the state.
