An earthquake with a 5.7 magnitude struck 20.4 kilometers (12.7 miles) east-southeast of Silver Springs, Nevada, according to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey.
Nearby cities include Carson City (42 miles), Reno (45 miles) and South Lake Tahoe (58 miles).
The quake was at a depth of 9 km (5.59 miles), USGS said.
The USGS puts the chance of aftershocks within the next week at more than M4.0 at 86%.
