QBE Regional Insurance recently added Charles Valinotti and Mike Bondura to its leadership team headquartered in Sun Prairie, Wis.

Valinotti, senior vice president of Personal Lines, oversees personal property and casualty insurance offerings for QBE Regional’s four subsidiaries. His diverse background includes more than 17 years of agency management, as well as domestic and international personal lines insurance.

Bondura serves as Claims officer. With more than 25 years in the industry, he is experienced in claims management and consulting with insurers, self-insureds and third-party claim administrators.

QBE Regional Insurance specializes in property and casualty insurance through subsidiaries General Casualty (Sun Prairie), Unigard (Bellevue, Wash.), Farmers Union Insurance (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and QBE Agri (Lenexa, Kan.).

QBE Regional is part of Sydney, Australia-based QBE Insurance Group Limited.

Burns & Wilcox reported that Kendra Corman has joined the company as its new marketing director.

Corman is responsible for managing the company’s advertising and marketing initiatives, which includes overseeing new product launches and developing e-mail marketing strategies, agent incentive programs and advertising campaigns to support Burns & Wilcox’s international presence.

Prior to joining Burns & Wilcox, Corman was the advertising manager for Jeep at Chrysler LLC. She was responsible for directing and executing the print, television and online advertising programs to support the Jeep brand campaign, as well as the new product launch of the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Liberty.

Jack M. Rader, executive vice president and COO of Farmers Alliance Companies in McPherson, Kan., was elected chairman of the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS).

Rader succeeds James W. Sullivan, president and CEO of Co-operative Insurance Companies, Middlebury, Vt., who remains on the AAIS board of directors.

Christopher P. Taft, president and CEO of Preferred Mutual Insurance Co., New Berlin, N.Y., was elected vice chairman to succeed Rader.

R. Douglas Haines, president and CEO of Buckeye Insurance Group, Piqua, Ohio, was elected a member of the AAIS board. Haines has served as a board member in the past.

The other AAIS board members are: Edward T, Berg, president and CEO of Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Co., Algona, Iowa; Roy Bubeck, president and CEO of Badger Mutual Insurance Co., Milwaukee, Wis.; Stuart C. Henderson, president and CEO of Western National Insurance Group, Edina, Minn.; Judy S. Jackson, president and CEO of NLC Insurance Companies, Norwich, Conn.; Jeffrey B. Kusch, president and CEO of Austin Mutual Insurance Co., Maple Grove, Minn.; and Paul Baiocchi, president and CEO of AAIS.

Anthony Pokorny has been named director of business development at Berkley Net Underwriters LLC, a member of W. R. Berkley Corporation, to facilitate the company’s workers’ compensation program in the Midwest. He will be based in Indianapolis.

Pokorny has more than 25 years of sales experience working with clients and agencies. He has both regional and national workers’ compensation carrier experience in a variety of sales and leadership roles.

The Nebraska Department of Insurance announced that Mike Engel has joined the agency as an insurance fraud investigator. Engel comes to the Division with 30 years’ experience with the Lincoln Police Department.

Joe Hofmeister also joined the department in its Examination Division. He will be responsible for performing pre-need examinations throughout the state. Hofmeister also will assist with the financial analysis of Nebraska domestic insurance companies.

John N. Molbeck Jr. has been appointed chief executive officer of Houston-based HCC Insurance Holdings Inc. In addition to his new position as CEO, Molbeck will continue as president of the company.

As CEO, he succeeds Frank J. Bramanti, who is retiring but will remain on the board of directors.

HCC also announced that W. Tobin Whamond, presently a managing director in Wachovia Capital Markets’ Mergers and Acquisitions Group and head of Financial Institutions Mergers and Acquisitions, has been named an executive vice president and will become HCC’s chief financial officer later in the year.

Whamond’s election as executive vice president is effective May 1. He will also replace CFO Edward H. Ellis, Jr., 66, who will be retiring from the company at the expiration of Ellis’ current employment agreement on Dec. 31, 2009. Whamond will succeed to the CFO role after a brief transition period.

American International Group Inc. (AIG) named Matthew E. Winter as vice chairman, Transition Planning and Administration. Winter succeeds Richard H. Booth who has retired.

AIG also named Jeffrey Hurd vice president and chief administrative officer and will oversee AIG’s global operations and systems, corporate administration and a variety of special projects. Hurd will continue to serve as senior vice president and head of asset management restructuring.
