Good on New York, way to be pro-life! And meanwhile, on the other side of the map in Oregon, we have terrorists taking over vacant federal establishments.

Way to Go! The pregnant individual forgoes health insurance until she gets pregnant and then needs to get health insurance. Lets wait until her 8th month of pregnancy, pays 1 month of premium and the insurance company is on the hook to pay for the whole thing!

Like buying auto insurance after you crashed it.

Only not, because we are talking about women’s health and the health of an unborn infant and you are talking about cars. I would be shocked by someone who may call himself/herself a conservative not be on board with this. This is a total pro-life movement. Pregnancies are not always planned and by adding this as a “change in life” status is a good thing for the well-being of the mother and child.

          Captain Planet,

We need to constantly remind ourselves that Conservatives are pro-birth and only care about themselves, their freedom and liberty, and their pocketbooks. They speak of Jesus and compassion, but stop short of being Christ-like and compassionate when it may cost them a buck or two.

NY may be one of the most Christian states when you consider how well we take care of the poor and less fortunate. It results in higher taxes, but isn’t that what Jesus preached?

Jesus did preach to take care of the poor and less fortunate. He did not preach to pay higher taxes so the government could do it. He did not preach it was the government’s responsibility. He taught it should be the responsibility of the local Christians.

            Get your facts straight,

If paying higher taxes is what it takes, I am sure he would agree.

How would you suggest we take care of the poor and less fortunate if the efforts of the local Christians is not sufficient?

If you feel more could be done, then the first thing is to look at what you can do. Chances are a great percentage of those taxes will be rerouted to other uses or lost to government waste. It would be more cost effective to directly buy someone who is hungry a meal, or someone who is cold a blanket. You are there, so you know the greatest need.

If you can’t afford that, then find a local non-profit organization and donate some time.

            Get your facts straight,

Trust me, I do my fair share of volunteering and donating to charity. That is part of the reason I end up getting a refund from the government at tax time.

If I had more money, I would donate more.

When I volunteer, I even include my kids so they learn the value and importance of helping the less fortunate. I also send them to Catholic schools partly because they require the students to do community service. I am not sure how much more I can do. yet, it is still not enough.

I am my brother’s (and sister’s) keeper and if I must pay higher taxes in order to do so, so be it.

For all you against this- how is becoming pregnant not a life changing event already???? I’m pretty sure becoming pregnant and having a child is one of the greatest life changing events you can go through.

    Way to go NY!!
