Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. announced that Kenneth Apfel has been elected Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary, effective immediately.
Commenting on the announcement, Robert F. Orlich, President and CEO, stated: “Ken brings a tremendous amount of senior-level experience and in-depth knowledge to this critical role at Transatlantic, and we look forward to his contributions to our senior management team.”
Apfel joins TRH after serving with American International Group, Inc. (AIG) since 1981, most recently with AIG Reinsurance Advisors, Inc. as Senior VP, with responsibility for actuarial and underwriting functions. He held a series of actuarial positions of increasing responsibility within American International Underwriters and AIG’s Domestic Brokerage Group.
Apfel replaces Robert V. Mucci, who resigned as Chief Actuary to pursue a program of study in preparation for the Priesthood. Orlich commented: “I want to thank Bob for his over twenty years of service and his extraordinary contributions to Transatlantic.”
