Marsh announced two senior appointments within its UK business. John Nicholson, who previously headed Marsh’s National business in the UK, becomes the COO of Marsh UK, reporting to CEO Martin South
Chris Lay has agreed to assume responsibility for the National business, which provides risk management and insurance support to individuals, consumer groups and regionally based companies.
South noted that the new appointments are part of Marsh’s growth strategy. “In order to allow our sales and client executives to focus on growth, we wish to increasingly centralise our business processes and John will be working very closely with me to make this happen,” he explained. He praised Nicholson’s experience and “excellent track record in getting change delivered.”
South also indicated he was “delighted that Chris Lay has accepted the National business mantle.” In addition to the National business, Lay retains his leadership of Middle Market & Commercial for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He will continue to report to Alex Moczarski, CEO for Marsh EMEA.
