Sentry Acquires ALF Insurance Agency of Michigan

Stevens Point, Wis.-based mutual Sentry Insurance has purchased ALF Insurance Agency of Michigan Inc. from Dennis Hoyes.

ALF has consistently ranked as one of Sentry’s largest agencies for specialty auto policies. The agency has been named a Sentry “Preferred Partner” since 2000 for its outstanding results.

ALF will continue to operate as an independent agency that represents companies in addition to Sentry. Hoyes now serves as a management consultant to the agency.

Headquartered in Jackson, Mich., ALF has 14 locations in 11 communities, including Adrian, Alpena, Battle Creek, Belleville, Benton Harbor, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Monroe, Port Huron and Redford.

    With Sentry's core business as a direct writer, this raises the question of who own'sthe business? Clearly in this case it is Sentry.
