Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty has ordered Nationwide Home Warranty, which has its home office in New York City, to halt the marketing and selling of home and service warranty products in Florida.
Nationwide Warranty is not associated with Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. or any of its affiliates.
McCarty issued a similar order against National Home Protection, also of New York City, on Oct. 12. Both companies sell home and service warranty products but are not related.
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation said National Warranty has sold and continues to sell home warranty products in Florida without a license via its Web site.
The order requires the company to cease selling these products, and also requires the company to continue to honor all policies that are in effect for the duration stated in their contracts.
Nationwide Warranty has 21 days to challenge this action.
