A woman says a North Charleston, S.C. bonding company failed to monitor a 25-year-old man who sexually assaulted her while wearing one of the firm’s tracking devices.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that the lawsuit filed this week in Berkeley County says Robinson Bail Bonding should have had Brandon Bannister locked up after his ankle bracelet showed he was violating release conditions by going to places he wasn’t supposed to.
Bannister was issued the bracelet in 2010 as part of his bond on an indecent exposure charge. He was sentenced to 25 years last month after pleading guilty to first-degree sexual conduct for breaking into the woman’s home in 2011.
Greg Robinson issued the GPS device. He said bondsmen can’t be held responsible for suspects’ behavior.
