With Las Vegas as the background, the 76th Annual AAMGA meeting May 5-9 at the Bellagio brings together in one place the major players in this segment of the business that provides insurance products and services through independent wholesale insurance distributors, especially independent wholesale insurance distributors with the authority to bind coverage.

“The Annual Meeting Committee has done an excellent job of combining education, information and networking for all classes of membership,” president Baron Garcia said. “You can’t afford to miss out on the content of this year’s event.”

Members will find the event a great opportunity to secure and extend relationships with present insurance providers—especially those in excess and surplus lines and similar special coverages in the property/casualty segment of the business, along with exploring new relationships with other carriers or developing other lines of coverage.

The five-day event includes a variety of opportunities for participants, including AAMGA University courses to be held Sunday, May 5. Among the presentations will be the “Case of the Missing File” mock trial relating to E&O claims. Topics will cover a wide array from reinsurance to running a family business.

On Monday, May 6, the opening breakfast will welcome veteran network newscaster Sam Donaldson, who has covered a wide variety of topics during his years in Washington, D.C. The spouses’ program will also not be short on news content as Deborah Norville will speak to the group.

On Tuesday, May 7, at the awards breakfast, the morning will include a presentation by Stephen Caitlin, chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association, the trade association that represents the interests of underwriters and underwriting agents for Lloyd’s.

Also highlighting the week will be the Trade and Vendor Mart, along with activities including golf, tennis and bridge.
