Insurers must provide full coverage for personal property that’s been moved because of the threat of flooding on the Missouri River, South Dakota insurance regulators have determined.
Insurance Director Merle Scheiber issued a bulletin on June 10 stating that any property moved from insured premises on or after May 25 due to flooding concerns must be covered through July 8, 2011. Schreiber said the directive is necessary because most commercial property policies and some residential policies limit coverage for personal property removed from the insured premises.
