John Bender, the New York-based CEO of global reinsurance solutions provider Allied World Re, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game on August 10.
Bender is the founder and chairman emeritus for The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a Monrovia, Calif., based charity dedicated to raising money for children’s cancer research. He accepted the invitation to throw the game’s first pitch in order to raise awareness for the foundation and its need for childhood cancer research funding.
