The CDI’s Fraud Division arrested Gary Stromme, 46, of Anaheim, at his business and charged him with 13 felony counts of grand theft.
According to investigators, in 1999, Stromme, a Farmers Insurance Group agent, allegedly collected commercial insurance premiums without actually remitting them to the insurance companies. Instead, he purportedly issued bogus insurance certificates to 13 Loyal Orders of Moose Lodges.
Because Stromme was a member of the Buena Park Lodge at the time, he was able to gain the trust of the fraternal organization’s lodge administrators.
An administrative action against Stromme’s insurance license is pending.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
