The number of compensable fatalities the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services’ Workers’ Compensation Division received notification of in 2007 – the third-lowest number reported since the state began tracking the statistic in 1943. According to DCBS’ statistics, the construction industry faced the largest percentage of compensable fatalities, with 12 incidents. The average age of fatally injured workers in 2007 was 35, which is 10 years younger than the average of 45 in 2006.

The dip in auto thefts reported to police in Colorado between 2005 and 2007, partly because of a stronger focus on preventing and solving those crimes and tougher penalties in at least one community. Auto thefts, which totaled 25,315 in 2005, dropped to 16,353 in 2007, according to statewide crime figures released by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
