United Benefit Advisors (UBA), based in Indianapolis, Ind., appointed Thomas Mangan as chief executive officer.

Mangan is a 20-year veteran in the employee benefits field. Prior to joining UBA, Mangan served as the Employee Benefits president of the New England Region of USI Insurance Services; president of the employee benefits division of HUB International, a leading global insurance brokerage; and president of Willis Life of Texas, where he also was South Central Employee Benefits practice leader.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana announced that Carol L. Dulle will become the group’s executive vice president upon the retirement of Roger Ronk on Feb. 1, 2013.

Dulle, who has served as the vice president of operations with the Missouri Association of Independent Agents, also has served in various positions and managed human resources, financial operations, communications, marketing, educational programming and outside events.

Dulle joined the Big “I” on Aug. 1 and will work with Ronk until Feb. 1, 2013, in order to insure a smooth transition.

R&R Insurance Services Inc., headquartered in Waukesha, Wis., has named Stephanie Katzfey as creative marketing specialist.

Katzfey has more than seven years of marketing experience ranging from experiential to online. Prior to R&R, she worked for GMR Marketing LLC and Pinstripe Inc. in a variety of client services roles.

Lockton St. Louis has added Jim Mathewson, senior vice president, to its Risk Management team.

Mathewson has more than 30 years of experience. He joined Lockton in Kansas City in 2005 as a risk finance consultant. Since 2009, he has worked in Lockton’s Atlanta office as the Southeast Region casualty leader and unit manager.He also held senior positions at Marsh & McLennan, Captive Resources, Swiss Re and Willis.

Scott Bastian joined Lockton as a vice president and producer based in the insurance broker’s Chicago office. He will be responsible for client advocacy and new business development in the employee benefits’ consulting practice. Bastian brings more than 20 years of industry experience to Lockton, and most recently served as senior vice president of consulting and growth at a Milwaukee-based benefits consulting firm.

Motorists Commercial Mutual Insurance Co., based in Edina, Minn., selected Shawn Kimmes as vice president of Marketing. Kimmes previously served as a district sales manager responsible for territory in Minnesota at Wilson Mutual Insurance Co., an affiliate of MCM based in Appelton, Wis.

MCM is a member of The Motorists Insurance Group.

Jeff Kohlmann was appointed insurance program manager of the Wisconsin Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund (Fund). Kohlmann has been with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) since 1983.

The Fund provides excess medical malpractice coverage to Wisconsin health care providers and ensures that funds are available to compensate injured patients. It was created by the Wisconsin State Legislature in 1975.

Don Engler joined Wisconsin-based wholesale insurance firm, Scobie Group, as vice president of Branch Operations in the Eau Claire, Wis., office.

During the past 20-plus years, Engler has held leadership positions with various companies in the insurance industry.

At Scobie Group, he will oversee the management of seven branch offices and will work closely with the senior management team on a variety of projects and initiatives.

Engler holds the CPCU, ARM and IIA designations.
