A “BBBpi” FSR was assigned to The American Road Insurance Co. (ARI) by S&P. The company, which is licensed in 52 states, the District of Columbia and Canada, is a strategically important member of the Dearborn, Mich.-based American Road Insurance Group. Consequently, the rating includes additional credit for implied group support. ARI writes coverages related to extended warranty, physical damage of dealer inventories and equipment financed at wholesale floor-plan by Ford Motor Credit Co., ARI’s parent company. The rating also reflects the company’s strategic importance to its parent and extremely strong capital position, factors which are partially offset by ARI’s volatile operating results and limited business scope.
