Progressive Insurance has made available enhanced referrals program for independent agents, ProLeads. According to the company, agents have sold nearly 25,000 new policies using sales leads from the program. Launched in May 2001, the program provides authorized agents with sales leads from two sources—Progressive’s direct sales center, and the company’s Web site, www.progressive.com. The program helps agents grow their business through sales opportunities generated by the company’s countrywide advertising. Progressive provides consumer contact information to participating referral agents via e-mail and online through Progressive’s agent-dedicated Web site, ForAgentsOnly.com (FAO). Agents can then use FAO to help manage the initial contact and follow-up. Progressive is piloting an additional feature of its referral program that enables authorized agents to provide consumers with a Progressive quote directly through the agent’s Web site.
